I'm taking a trip to Hilton Head & going through Savannah - checking to see if there are any shops in that area that are with visiting? I focus on medals, US Philippines coins, 20th century World, Civil War Tokens, & "oddball" things, & love to find shops with sprawling "junk" bins, if that narrows things down.
I have a little place in Beaufort and a few years back I went searching for coin haunts. I don't go to Hilton Head. That place ain't my cup-o-tee really..... But I can tell you that there are two places that say they are coin dealers in Beaufort. One is a pawn shop that really isn't a coin shop. He just wants to buy your gold too cheap. The other place is on the main drag in Beaufort. His is more of a curio shop with one case in the corner of the store that does have coins. There does seem to be a half decent variety of 19th century stuff in that case, but I found them to be pretty pricey. Priced for tourists with money to spend sort of a place...... Now if you see someplace worth plundering in Hilton Head, please let me know! I avoid Hilton Head because it is geared towards shoppers and I am NOT one of those. My wife spends a lot in Hilton Head but I refuse to accompany her on her sprees.
Off subject a bit but you will appreciate this. Between Hilton Head and Beaufort is a little berg called Port Royal. In Port Royal is a little boardwalk around what they call the Cypress Swamp. It's maybe a thirty minute walk around the boardwalk, but it is the coolest thirty minutes you will spend if you love wildlife.
Actually I let my wife do her thing and she lets me do mine. Once we’re home and tell each other what we’ve done and how much we spent, we get upset for 5 minutes and then forget about it. What’s done is done and neither of us is going to change things. We love each other.
