Wow! I like your coins. I've got all of them, except the 1877, in various states of condition. I replace them as I find a better coin. Thanks all for sharing.

 

At one point in time I had a complete IHC collection all MS except for the 1877. I since sold it, but kept this one and a 1879. I have added a couple. I also have a completed Dansco album - thought I had pictures, but guess not.

 

In my day a woodie was a car with wood grain side panels. Very popular with the surfer dudes. Thanks for the post.

 

The 1908-S Indian Cent was the first cent that was struck at a branch mint. It took an Act of Congress to authorize that. Very few collectors recognize or care about that, but to me it makes the 1908-S cent special.



Among the others, the 1859 was the first so that one is special.



The 1864 Plain is really a minor type. These coins were struck from dies that were intended for the copper-nickel cents before the change to Bronze. Once more few collectors recognize this.

I don't have an 1877 either, OR a 1909-S. I am working on a fourth set, each one with higher price limits per coin than the set before it.

 

Here is an interesting 1864 that I have.

 

I have got to go back and look at my IHCs. I may be missing more than I though. Whoops! Thanks for all of those that entered information in this forum.

 

This my 1877 Indian I picked up a while back. Nice strike for a MS63 and CAC.

 

Saw this one online cheap and couldn't resist. "Smoothing" is a technique that shaves irregularities from the fields. After I got it, I noticed the pronounced die clash of the shield above the head on the obverse.
