The issue is at the top left wheat, And a later die stage. The die markers are right die crack bottom right wheat and a gouge top right wheat inside.
The only die crack I see is upper left wheat. I also see something coming out of the upper part of the bottom right wheat, left side.
I will have to get better photos, Yes there is a die crack, but there is also a parallel light one that is just above on the left stalk. and yes there is a light one on the bottom right wheat. I need better photos.
You had a whole roll. Do all of them have the same reverse die you think? And I don't know what that is.
Yeah I bought two rolls, a 54S and a 55S I pulled 10 coins out of each roll so far 2 of the coins had this reverse.
Thanks for responding, I will get some photos of the variety. I was thinking Var-Slab to start with. Seems everyone else wants it spelled out for them. Wrapped up in a little bow, just in time for a like, they have a problem thinking and not repeating the Click, move on. The error forum looks dead. If they can't even talk about it.
It's no wonder the Error forum is dead. I think there are many new errors out there hiding in small time collections. Who are you passing your collection too?
Me? I don't really have an error collection. But I'll leave my collection and gold and silver junk to my wife. Really depends on how my health is in my later years, if it starts tanking, I may start liquidating so she won't be burdened with valuations and selling.
So.....is it a die break? Or is it a clashed die? Not sure what it could have clashed with. I have no idea.
The die crack is the result of a weak die. In this instance we have two interior die breaks that are connected by die cracks. If you look closely the die cracks cross the rim in 2 spots. When that happens and the die face retains it's details it is called a retained cud or a pre-cud. Once the details are lost it is called a cud and would look like a featureless blob. By the way I did find the listing for this reverse. It is RCD-1c-1955S-20R Images are courtesy of Chuck Newman Cross reference: JCc-1955S-175. 06/05/2017.
