Please help me figure out if I have an error

    I am a new coin Hunter. I found a quarter with a large number 31 stamped in the middle of it. Is it an error

    NO it is not a Mint Error.
    This is what is called a Counter Punch or Counter Stamp mark.
    Someone stamped the number 31 into the quarter.
    Similar to these Number Punch -
