    Hello all!

I have a simple question, and help would be greatly appreciated:

Is this worn 16 mm, 1,66 g coin with certainty a Domitian rhinoceros quadrans RIC 248 / 249, or is there a chance of some mix-up?

    Best regards, Miia :)

Hello Miia, your coin is indeed a quadrans of Domitian, RIC 248. Nice one! It is one of my favorite types.

It's the big African black rhino who fought against a bull and a bear in the Colosseum. There are epigrams of Martial about these fights. He also appears on a marble relief of the temple of Divus Vespasianus, on the Forum.
