This one came my way today. And I’ve now flipped it within an hour of getting it. But if my friend hadn’t wanted it, I’d have slabbed it and put it in my own collection.

The dealer and I concurred on Choice AU; maybe 58 on a good day, but we called it 55 to be conservative. Maybe a light dip in the past (it’s a tiny bit whiter in hand than in these pics), but we figured it’s probably market-acceptable and has a decent chance at a straight grade when it goes off to the TPG (PCGS or NGC). Worth a shot, right? What do you think?

It looks like an honest coin. Probably hung out in a pocket or two.

Nice! agree-55 to 58-- don't see any reason why it shouldn't straight grade.

I would have sent it off also, nice high AU coin.

After my fast-flip, it belongs to @Randy Abercrombie now, so he stands to reap the rewards if it does well at PCGS. Crossing my fingers it gets a straight 58. I think it has a good chance. If he hadn’t wanted it, I’d have cheerfully added it to my own collection. I still need the type.

(I imagine he doesn’t, quite so much. Being a Seated guy, I’m willing to bet he already has several 1853 A&R quarters. But maybe not quite this sharp. Dunno. Maybe he even has a lesser example to sell me. But nah… he’s a one-way street and never sells much. LOL.) ;)

Actually..... I NEED an A&R quarter. That was rather why I perked up when you showed it to me.

Ah, I guess it’s the half you had, then? I thought I remembered seeing a nice A&R coin from you at one point.

Yep. I have the half and I do have a low grade quarter.... But that don't count.
