Here’s another token that I picked up recently. It’s for the Bicentennial but I haven’t seen much for the 250th Anniversary of the nation.

Nice one, I don't think I have any 1976 tokens but here's two from 1876 from the Centennial Expo in Philadelphia. thumbsup.gif

I finally remembered, I do have a 1976 Bicentennial medal, and to make it better, it's silver and a Carson City! :D

I REALLY like the John Mathews. What's on the other side? You have a guy with a huge pipe wrench about to fix a water main going to a fire hydrant ... and a bear is helping! What more could you want?

The U.S. Government did not issue an commemorative gold coins for the Bicentennial. This was as close as ti got. There were a series of these medals, all with the same design, in various metals and sizes. This was the small gold piece. It's sort of like a $5 gold piece, perhaps a little smaller.

Here is the medal set which was sold at the 1876 Centennial celebration. The price was $11 which was pretty steep for the time.

This medal was awarded to those who mounted exhibits at the fair.

Finding the medal with the box is not easy.
