Here's a coin purchased with zero regard for the holder or the esthetics of the coin. I have to find out who catalogued this coin and recognized it as an undescribed DM. 1855-O NGC AU55 - Undescribed die marriage - No known obverse has a die crack between stars 3 and 4 and a die crack extending to Liberty's head.
I got an opportunity to pick up these new designs, for not much money. And, since they don't get down south very often, I grabbed them.
Nice. I don't even collect quarters but I'd paid that on the spot for that without hesitation. I don't even care what Greysheet says.
Never been a grey sheet Guy. As an in hand buyer I just tend to buy what has appeal. There is some real nice frost on the obv, and highly reflective mirrors to the field, It went into a Whittman Classic, Just as a hole filler.
I was a hole filler my entire younger life as long as the female canvas in front of me gave me a gleam in my eye.
I decided to do something quite strange with my Type Set. I been toying with the idea of having both a "Low-Ball" circulated Morgan, a mint-state "monster" toned Morgan, and a DMPL Morgan to show the broad range of how these popular coins can look. Its the only type in my set that I plan on doing this for. So far, I have lowball, and now I have the DMPL, in my all time favorite holder. Only problem is a large chip out of the holder in the top-left, which I did not notice until I already purchased the coin and had it in-hand. Coin is very flashy, with a nice cameo type look. Also affordable in this grade, hence I jumped on the coin.
