Welcome to my 78,000 likes celebration and thanks to all that contributed to that figure. I never thought about having that many when I first joined CT.
Also my thanks to @ZoidMeister for selling me this counter stamped coin. It was the last one I needed to complete collection of these.
There are only 3 in the set but this is the hardest one to obtain. It’s the Oil of Ice counter mark, a pharmacist by trade.
Copies have been produced but they are easily identified by a rounded O. The O that’s the genuine one is oblong like it is on this piece. I have been looking for this coin for 3 years and thanks to Zoid my search is over and onto something else.
This is the 1864 Large Motto as noted on several letters still showing on the ribbon. It’s the common one. This counter mark was also on the Indian Head Cent and the Shield Nickel. One nice thing about this mark is ICE is doubled, which is considered a rarity.

Here is my Shield Nickel piece but unfortunately I can not find a photo of my Indian Head Cent piece. Trust me, I do have it. This is a 1866 with rays, the first year of issue for Shield Nickels.

I should also say that the Two Cent Piece is also a first year of issue for that coin type. My Indian Head Cent is not. Most of these counter marks were done around the dates of these two coins or the end of the Civil War. It was done for advertising.

    Congratulations!

What did “oil ice” mean or refer to? Was it a product?
