Thank you! I like Vijayanagar coins, they have interesting designs. By 1400AD, most of India was under Muslim (Dehli Sultanate) control.

And here's a crown to go with the half sovereign:

    Yay, I'm back in.

Until recently this was my earliest dated Wildman coin. This one is a 1551 1/4 Thaler.

I'm going to move us on to 1549, because I have one. Another Brunswick Wildman thaler. My earliest Wildman.

I'm running on fumes as well, very spotty coverage.

How are we going to handle the date issue after 1500? Some coins are dated, especially Islamic coins, and going even farther back some coins, such as Byzantine coins, are dated by regnal year which often overlaps Gregorian years. Some BCE coins are dated, but using calendars, such as Seleucid era year based on Seleucus I Nicator's reconquest of Babylon in 312/11 BCE - quite complicated. Roman coins sometimes include consul year, which could be used to arrive at an approximate date. Roman provincial coins from Egypt usually have a year, in Greek letters, on them and that could be used to calculate an approximate date.

    Just some random thoughts....

    German Cities/States, Lubeck, thaler, 1549.
    Davenport 9405

    D-Camera Lubeck thaler, 1549, 28.8 grams, Dav 9405, Roma 2020, 12-12-20.jpg
