I will say Pertiest Washington that I found at the Coin Expo, I found some drop dead gorgeous coins. For instance a 45S Walker, Georgous original Mint set toning, another, an 80D Kennedy, They were just too proud of them. I paid a premium for this one just not more than I thought it was worth.
What did the TPG grade this coin.
3 part grade, was the coin under or over graded? What did the TPG grade it? And Who graded it?

Wild guess MS-65. The toning is fantastic. Remember, I am not a good guesser!

Nothing Wild about that guess Mr Q, I have a soft spot for mint set toned coins.

I'm stuck on MS64. Over graded as a MS65 and a grading company grade it.

I guess that I was expecting a stronger strike on the coin. The hair on the obverse, the breast on the eagle and wings are a little weak also. It could be the toning throwing me off though. I am no expert. Just my opinion. ;)
So? What was he graded as? :woot::watching:

Under-graded at 65 - should be 66 - Arnold (I don't follow the TPGs much so no idea on that holder)

I just don't know what to say to that one.
Looking up this particular date on Coinfacts, The originalMint set toning tends to command a premium.

I'm going with a MS64, the graders perhaps a 65. Toning often conceals things for me to assign a grade. What ever the grade I believe this one looks spectacular in hand.

I have no idea. I honestly don't know how they grade toned coins. Toning hides blemishes. I don't see blemishes but will say very attractive coin. You always have good taste in toners.

When I assess these 'guess the grades' I always look at the photog first and make an estimation of grade based on what I'm looking at. I most like when I'm first to respond to the subject thread because peeking ahead may influence my choice of grade. I didn't skip ahead.....'65, PCGS.

Thanks Barney and you are right, sometimes obvious distractions are looked over not because they aren't seen. but because the luster is that incredible that they get a pass. I don't mind this way of grading unless they are egregious. I will say that even under the lights and magnification the coin has very minor contact marks. There are 2 light marks in front of Washingtons nose. Even with Magnification you have to look for them.
Rolling the coin under a light, (no Magnification) there aren't any noticeable marks.

Alright a few of you got the grade, no one got the CAC.
Thanks all for playing. ddddd Dwhiz Longnine Mr Numist all got the grade. We'll give Ksmooter a point for the 65 should be a 66.
