Going tomorrow... don't have any specific goals in mind (other than I decided, if I don't find anything else I want to buy, will take home a 1957 proof set). Just want to see what there is to see. Half the fun for me is just being able to "talk shop" about coins in person. Got a stricter budget than I did last time but should be able to take something worthwhile home. I don't think ANACS is doing the 2 free submissions thing anymore, at least I can't find anywhere where they mention it. I'm not sure I have much I really feel a need to submit anyway (maybe later). Free drawing for an American Gold Eagle though! I'll be honest if I won that I'd probably sell it lol, there's things I'd rather have worth that much than that.
I will be there this morning. Still looking for a 69/69 Indian, 1895 & 1912-S Liberty nickels, and a '24-S Buffalo, hopefully high XF to AU. Also, a few Barber dimes. I only have a few hours so will be moving through quickly.
Pretty good show but the bigger guys like West Coast Coins were coming directly from the Central Sates show last week and had a bit of a depleted inventory. Also, not as many attendees as at the show last May but fairly busy. I didn't have much time so cruised quickly looking for the few coins I needed and got through in under 2 hours. One of these days I hope to be able to actually enjoy one of these shows, if time ever allows. I bought a 1969/69 Indian with a details FX grade, but it will fill a spot for now. Also found a very nice 1904-S Barber dime, with some nice toning (better than my pictures) and an obverse die-crack from I-T-E in united.
Had to cut my budget for the event a bit due to upcoming dental expenses (don't ask) but was still able to pick up a few things of interest: (Please don't ask for pictures; I tried many times to get decent pictures and none of them came out well.) Biafra 1 pound banknote Mexico (Chihuahua) 1915 5 pesos banknote 1961 USSR 3 kopeks, gold plated 1925 France 2 franc Chamber of Commerce token 2008 Malta 5 (euro) cent 1945 Canada 5 cents (plated steel) 1874 Straights Settlements (Singapore) 1 cent 1946, 1946-D, & 1947 Roosevelt dimes 1958 Finland 10 markka (with hole drilled into it) 2024-P Missouri Innovation dollar 1999 Ghana 50 cedis 1999 Spain 1 Euro 2026 P&D Mayflower Compact quarters 2026 P&D Revolutionary War quarters 1957 US proof set Maybe if I'm in the mood later I'll attempt to get pictures of some of this (no promises, but the banknotes should be easy enough, since I can just scan those). Also brisket mac & cheese; didn't get a picture of that lol. Was a fun event and had just as much fun talking about coins with the dealers and other show attendees as actually looking at stuff.
