    Fortunately for the pieces owner the crooks were too dumb to remove the coin from the holder that identified it. Then again if they were smart they wouldn't be criminals.

    I hope the thieves get fully prosecuted and not just a slap on their wrists. I am also glad they tried to get top dollar at a coin show instead of shopping it around for bullion at a pawn shop. They would never have been caught, and the coin might have been melted.

    That's a real result. There is a lot of bad activity with Shipwreck coins such as fake COA's. I'm amazed that a $40,000 coin "missing" for some time had not been reported as stolen. I would love to know the circumstances. Great job by the dealers.
