I feel bad that someone's gonna lose a lot of money but they need to stay away from buying gold on ebay! It's amazing that some bidiots think ebay is perfectly safe to buy gold from anyone selling on their site, that's crazy! I'm over reporting fake sellers and getting ignored! Insane! https://www.ebay.com/itm/298273561086
Some lessons are learned the hard way...the eBay money back guarantee should apply. The buyer should be able to get the money back because it is misrepresented as a real coin.
You have to be a totally uninformed person not to know that “Mint State, Ultra Cameo” does not go together. It’s probably from a Chinese, non native speaker liking some numismatic terms together.
I find that many of these sellers have several people that will watch or bid to make it look interesting to others.
If you research the coin for two minutes... you can find out It's a tribute token and gold plated...larger than a genuine AGE. Maybe the best way to get rid of sellers like this is to hit them in the wallet and take the product away.
Something about the reverse portrait looked really wrong to me... And I realized what it was. Yes, the portrait is a little off but there's something more obviously wrong with it. Look at its orientation in the slab... It's oriented the same way the obverse is, and that's not how US coins work. This is medal orientation, not coin orientation. I don't think this is "fake" in the sense I don't think it was made to fool anyone, but it's definitely NOT what it's being sold as.
That might be hard to do. It would be better if they were banned, but eBay would never do that. They represent a revenue stream for the company. If the sale is made, and it sticks, eBay gets to keep the selling fees.
I think that the pictures are hard to see, which was probably done on purpose. Here is a genuine example.
Check out the 1 feedback. Lots of red flags for anyone who isn't looking for a Home Run Score. The gold bar looks fake to me but I haven't dealt with many of them... only one picture of the front. No telling what the buyer got delivered. ( The serialized number looks too large and packaging suspect.)
As mentioned above, the picture is poor quality. EBay seems to have chosen to be part of a wholesale scam, and I suspect they know and approve since they consistently say these do not violate their policies.
EBay allows shill bidders because it just makes their fee higher. Can't even find the report button anymore. Hidden behind a ? on the bottom right. Sent in a report anyway even though it is futile. Oh and the seller has a 100% rating. (cough, cough, yeah that's legit too.)
The label states it’s Mint State and Ultra Cameo. Isn’t that strange? I’ve never seen that on a label before. Maybe because the label is generic and not from a TPG. I’ve also never seen a U.S. made with both sides facing the same direction. I be think the person that did this isn’t very good at producing fakes.
Yes, I'm thinking that buyer got screwed, they paid $3,550 on March 1st, for that 1 oz bar! The price of gold that date was right around $5,200, so they likely thought they were getting a steal of a deal and truth be told, they took it in the shorts! I hate to sound cruel but these bidiots need to wthu! Hope I'm wrong!

Sent in a report anyway. They immediately come back with they are looking into it and will get back to me. Haven't gotten back to me. I am just waiting for the AI bot response: This doesn't go against our policy. They have been sued successfully over these kinds of things. But it needs to go further and they need to take more responsibility or no one is going to trust their site. I stopped trusting the coins/ paper money part of their site years ago. And I did a lot of business and most of the deals I was satisfied with, or happy with. Only one or two I was underwhelmed, but it was my own fault. Once they flooded the gates with Chinese counterfeits, I said this is ridiculous and stopped doing business with them. I have bought other non coin items at the site.
This is why I don’t buy off of the bay. If they allow this with coins what else to they allow that I don’t know about?
