Ok, so this was my best coin roll hunt to date... I got 99 1964 halves and 1 1963 Franklin. This more than tripled how many 90% coins I had in my collection so I was very happy to say the least!
I believe your findings, and had a huge dime dream box back in Jan.'17, with 98 silvers (33-Rosie's & 65-Merc's). I watch your vids often whenever I can pull them in.
Well I will admit I am very very new to all this, and yes I to follow you. I started out asking for half dollar pieces at the banks, 8 or 9 of them in total, no that's wrong did have several friends check banks almost 100 miles from me in other cities, ... have not yet seen the first of any silver; not saying they are not out there for sure. BUT did come up with 6 USMINT Wrapped halves ( of no great value, 3 years, 2 mints each) and several rolls of uncirculated .... . Did find what I now know as "I am a big idiot for tossing those", out of my ignorance .... so I am beginning to have my doubts at several things I have seen on the tube. I do have a friend who owns a coin operated business and probably receives 3 or 4 hundred dollars in quarters daily, these he and his wife do a quick scan f for silver, but that's it. Just yesterday we were talking and he said it has been 3 months since any have been found and was just as scarce before that. Strange enough, my daughter went to a vending machine and received a 64 quarter in change; so go figure. I would say I probably exchanged at least 1000$ in halves ... note the words exchanged, for I am trying to operated a bourbon taste on a beer budget. Did glean those 6 rolls I mentioned plus an additional 3 rolls of really clean halves. so the end of this little story. I guess you just have to be reallllly lucky to all that silver so often.
I did a box of $500.00 last night. Found two '67 40% and a '36 Walker 90%. However, I went four boxes before that with nothing. I find them, but not in great quantities.
If new to this, sir, you would be wise to avoid the OP's videos, which are not made out of genuine passion or to educate, but exist only as a scream for attention. In fact, there have been a number of them containing exceptionally poor to downright dangerous information, and is because this young man doesn't bother to research before posting, nor does he care about the factual quality of his content. I cannot speak for all YouTube videos on this general subject, but if looking to learn you're better off coming here with whatever questions you may have. We may not always agree, but poor info generally gets called out fairly quickly and provides a better overall learning environment. That said, the reason you're not finding anything near what he appears to is because it's become quite clear that he "discovers" the same things over and over again. Yes, it's still out there, but just not like he pretends. Welcome to the forum.
Not very plausible since most banks don't even have one roll available yet alone 6 rolls. Unless someone just happened to drop off 6 rolls, again, highly unlikely
Yes sir I agree to this well, best I can tell is someone passed away and the family cashed in his horde, I had posted at another site asking advice as to what I might possibly do with the mint rolls, hate to break them open and they are recent sort of speak, ( 03, 08, and 09 ) was told there a few things, one was just to bust them open pull out the best of them and cash in the rest .... still up in the air about it. Right now need the liquidity to carry on , then again l probably be the only time for me get the opportunity to one. But as long as we are speaking of same, maybe somebody can clarify a question I have. Fell sort of stupid asking this but here ya go. The mint issues coins these as uncirculated. This I get BUT once they are unwrapped or taken from the bag can they still be called uncirculated??? Know it is a dumb question but really do not know and would like a little clarification here please. Thank you
Yes, they absolutely can, and is because "uncirculated" is actually a term used to describe condition and not an individual coin's history. A better term is "mint state" (or MS) but even then a coin can be MS and have been in circulation. Does this make sense? If not, please just say so. As an aside, there are rolls that the mint sells, but they're rarely encountered from banks. Much more common is what's called "bank wrapped" rolls (or "OBW" - I think some of the younger guys here use another term as well), which are sometimes confused with mint wrapped, but they're simply machine rolled either by a bank or a Loomis-type company that handles coins for banks.
Thank you, see I thought MS was a special packaging from the mint; hence to be totally honest I may still be a bit confused which I have become more so since getting into this most enjoyable hobby. Still working on the double die thing, have seen the photos of such, yes, just need to develop the discerning eye I recon. As for the rolls, I am familiar with the Loomis rolls, The mint rolls I am speaking of ( I have one in front of me) is tightly wrapped, both ends open revealing the reverse on this particular one, Blue and white in color, blue has a picture of Kennedy coin, the $10 is to the upper left of picture and a large P to the right, then below this is the wording Kennedy Half Dollars all in upper case, below that is 2009 in sort of a bronze color set on a white back ground and below that is www.usmint.gov a bronze color dot then 1-800-USA-MINT then a bronze colored bar from East to West below that. Had found customer rolls but to be honest at that time I was silver searching and completely ignorant to the real treasures that might lie within. Now I could really care less about the silver, it is nice of course, but look far deeper into things; which is most difficult with old tired eyes.... lol Would send a picture but I have an Android phone, and being tech ignorant I have yet to figure out a way to snap a shot, and post it with out a grand fiasco on my part....... I managed to get the computer and phone to see each other, then when I transfer the photo I down loads all 176 photos I have on it, for me it took several hours and attempts just to do that. Got angry so ordered a camera of sorts, the Celestron Micro direct 1080 HD, which arrived yesterday but have yet to use it, just picked up a MICRO card and an adapter so hopefully will be able to show something once in awhile. Do have 3 Nichols I would like to get an educated opinion on. One is a possible 3 1/2 leg buffalo .... the other two I think are/is just a fluke. Sure you must be tired of my gabbing, sorry. And thank you for the help and tolerance.
