Ditto - the shop I go to sells 25 for $1 ... if I could get 100 for $1... I'd clean out the shelves....
So if i flatten out the staples on the 2x2's, and put them in those 2x2 sheets for binders, will the coins be okay?
I like to keep extra coins and duplicates in 2x2s and instead of keeping them in the sheets as previously mentioned I use alot of the boxes made for 2x2 storage, like the ones I've provided a picture of. They're cheap and take up very little space. http://www.jpscorner.com/Coin_Storage_Boxes.htm
I put all my coins in cardboard 2x2's. If you use a decent, well fitting 2x2 and exercise caution when using the stapler, you will have NO PROBLEMS. I have not scratched a coin yet (knock on wood). Oh, they also make the pocket protector sheets PVC free, just read the box before buying.
Not sure of what you mean by cheap. I too keep most of my 2x2's in those. The ones I use are like the ones in that add for the real long ones in red. Mine have a divider down the center and hold about 300 2x2's depending on if using the heavy type ones or the light weight ones. So far at every coin show I go to they sell for $5 each. That is $5 for one lousy cardboard box. I now have 9 of those and at that price I don't consider them cheap but better than nothing. As to those sheets that hold 20 of the 2x2's, I've been using those for many, many years. I only put the better coins in 2x2's and then in those plastic sheets. I've got about 50 or more in a large 3 ringed binder and those coins have been there for many, many years. Not one single coins has been effected by anything. None have turned colors, toned, corroded, etc. Recently someone posted an experiment to prove about the uses of PVC. I took one of those sheets and used it for one of many experiments. Nothing. Of course there are many different brands and I know I have at least 3 different kinds. So far I'm happy with no bad results of contamination. I have many individual proof coins in those. Not even a glimmer of a haze. I'll let you know more in a few hundred years.
Now I'm getting scared. I am going to a coin show this Sunday. I haven't checked the prices of 2x2's for a while now. If they have gone up even more than usual, I will just have to find out where that place is that sells them for $1/100.
hmm I think I am the only one who doesn't like albums or pages. I like mine well protected in boxes, mostly in air tites or the hard plastic 2x2s.
