Good morning. It is Friday, April 3rd.

Our type today is the Sacagawea Dollar (2000-Date).

I do not have one. Not that I have pictures of, anyway.

Here's a picture of someone else's coin- obviously a ground find. The one I dug while metal detecting looked like this.

Today is Saturday April 4th, the day for the 50 State Commemorative Quarter (1999 - 2008).

I do not have any imaged, so here's a National Parks quarter instead.

There are just two slots left in the virtual album. Tomorrow we'll do any modern (post-1982) commemorative, and then Monday it's the Silver Eagle, and then done.

Our last two days (and two slots in the virtual album) called for a Modern commemorative (1983-present), and the Silver Eagle.

Sorry I was absent for the last two days. Anyway, to wrap this thread up...

First, here's a modern commem that used to be in my giveaway inventory.

Next, here is my Silver Eagle, which is also in my giveaway inventory. (Enter the current giveaway on the Contests forum if you'd like a chance at it.)

Yep, it's hideous. I had several to choose from, and actually - deliberately - chose the nastiest one I could find! You see, this one has a story to tell...

The story, as I heard it:

When Hurricane Helene ravaged the mountain communities of Western North Carolina in September of 2024, the floodwaters washed away one gentleman's house and all his worldly possessions, including a "Monster Box" of Silver Eagles. All of it was carried downstream in the muddy floodwaters. Later, recovery workers found the coins, and conscientiously tracked down their owner and returned them. But the coins were of course contaminated by the floodwater. Eventually they ended up in the hands of some Asheville coin dealers (four of whom are good friends of mine), and several were submitted to ICG for special holders. Here's the one I bought for my giveaways. I was since given another (even scuzzier) one by my friend Michael Swoveland of WNC Coins, which I've kept. I think these are interesting in the same tragic way that the WTC Ground Zero Recovery coins are.
