What is the oddest error coin you own?

I have cracked planchets, partial tilted collars, massive wood strike thru's, improper alloy mixes and a few others. This however is my oddest error and after speaking with well versed folks, this could be the largest of its type out there.

Yes sir, I will do my best. There was a lengthy discussion here and @Cascade has a similar coin which he also had graded.

I believe what the experts concluded is that these examples, his and mine, are struck thru fragments that fell off of other coins.

My coin happens to be entire leave sets/branches. Some folks call them elements.

Can you confirm Chris?

I'm not sure if you mean me or not, but I'll take a shot.

First, let me say that I wish I had a better close-up of the area, about one-fifth of the last image.

Yes, it does look like a strikethrough to me, but I don't know if it was the result of metal from another coin. It could have been the result of a dropped element, some of which, might still be retained.

Most people may not realize that a dropped element doesn't have to be the entire design element. It could be just a portion of it. For example, this may have come from the body of the eagle or a portion of the wreath. I don't know.

Mine would have to be this "Partial Collar Error". The obverse is a Broadstrike out of collar, and the reverse is a somewhat normal strike in collar. Speculation is, struck on Blank due to no pro-rim on obverse.

 

Here is my oldest error coin, from Syracuse Sicily, ca. 400BC:

This is cool because the flan was cast, but the casting spur was never broken off, even after the coin circulated awhile.

 

This... it's about as close to an "error" coin as I have -

 

Just realized, I read this as "oldest"

Here is my oddest, i still dont know exactly what it is. Its a strike thru OR a planchet issue (i think) Either way its cool to own- '83o straight graded 63 @ Anacs.
Similiar in appearance to dougs, in post#6 sans the fact mine sits atop the devices, whereas i noticed dougs coin runs underneath of the Q @ 1130-1200 .

 

I'm glad you did and posted your 03 IHC. I don't think I have ever seen one with a clip in it. Way cool.

 

I think I have another one...gotta' take a pcture.

 

Not sure if this is a struck through, or a detached lamination, still I think it's interesting either way.....

Those 2 quarters are awesome. They can be quite expensive too, especially the double struck example.
