1957 D Lincoln with weird D mark

    That's weird, I think it is what is referred to as PMD or Post Minting Damage, it is still weird...

    I wonder if you scratched a letter or picture on a zincoln and treated it with acid, could you get something like this...BTW, what's the year?

    It's a 1957 D/D. It has two Ds. Or maybe that "D" after the N isn't a D.

    Is this second "D" next to the N raised above the surface or flush with it?
    It looks raised in photo.
    This is quite odd, and the only thing I can think of is that an inpactment from the letter D fell out onto this coin. Could you show photo of full coin?
