Here's a Franklin Half I also sent into Anacs GTG This coin was taken right out of a 57 proof set in the old style tan envelope.
If the tiny dots are Milk Spots it hurts a bit, but it is a very nice color and has super eye appeal. 64 Super Eye Appeal? If not Milk Spots 65+
Grading proofs from photos is folly, so I'm going to avoid guessing. I'm not a fan of the toning, though. In additional to having negative eye appeal (for me, anyway), the toning doesn't make much sense to me. If it was in a mint package for the past 60 years, how did it acquire what looks like a textile toning pattern on a very darkly toned stripe across the coin on both sides while half of the coin is still white? Was the plastic not sealed properly, resulting in the coin being directly under the failed seal between two compartments? Do the dots line up with the pattern in the seal in the plastic?
The coin was cut from a sealed proof set by me. None of the cells were broken or damaged when I broke the set.
I was actually going to mention the textile dots, ive never seen a Franklin exhibit this before. It is sort of odd, but to me, it makes it more appealing. Im gonna go out on a limb and say the coin is much lighter and nicer looking in hand too
I agree with Messydesk that attempting to grade proofs from images is generally doomed to failure, as you can't really determine the hairlines from pix.
Well finding this one was a surprise and the toning is yes different I sort of like the leopard spots on his head ...to each their own just wanted to post this on the eve of The ides of March....."out damn spot ....out!"
