This auction was brought to my attention by Philly Dog. NICE FIND and WELL worth a look! http://cgi.ebay.com/1955-Benjamin-F...140310471QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item220140310471 Okay so what do we have here? Well, for starters it's CERTIFIED! That's what happens when you put them in a 2x2 and identify the type of coin correctly. This means, of course, that amongst the members of CT we probably own MILLIONS of certified coins. Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling doesn't it? I'm personally trying to choke it back down - shouldn't have eaten those tacos! Now I WILL give them some credit - they make their terms very clear. The old I'll leave you feedback after you leave yours. I JUST HATE THAT. If I sell and get a prompt payment you get positive right away. Guess that's cuz I never sell BEAUTIFUL UNCIRCULATED and CERTIFIED (in 2x2 coins). Oh, and don't forget the 20% fee for returns. That shows great confidence in ANY CERTIFIED coin. I did send the seller an email off of the link provided in the auction. Methinks it's a pawn shop (the pawn in the address gave it away). My message? "Hello, An item of yours on ebay was just brought to my attention. It is (quoting text) "This auction is for a 1955 Benjamin Franklin Silver Half Dollar certified in Beautiful Uncirculated Condition" By whom is this coin certified if you would be so kind? It looks to me like it's in a common 2x2 holder. NO certification services use these as holders - NOT EVEN THE LOWEST OF THE LOW DO. I'd also like to know what service certifies a coin as Beautiful Uncirculated. BU means something else but I'll let you figure that out by yourself. Thanks for your time and I anxiously await your reply. " ....and here's the repsonse "I did not list this item and Im not too sure what he was thinking. I believe it is "Brilliant Uncirculated" but dont hold me to it. We Appreciate Your Business!! John Levs Internet Sales" I did check out another of their coin auctions and wouldn't you know it was certified as XF .... but we don't know anything about coins. We're just your typical, honest pawn shop guys. So who's gonna buy it?
nobody did..and the fact it says 4.25 on it..why would I start at 10.00..lmao maybe you should try Binkys 1955...he graded it MS-61..oh wait, I stand corrected..he graded it a BU MS-61 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...loc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget
Because he did not want to charge extra for s&h. And the 4.25 was the first thing I saw. I like the people who consistently write the PCGS price guide price on their 2x2. Like that will make me bid more. :mouth:
Ah, come on guys (and gals). It was certified by SGS, Sal's Grading Service. You know the one: "Send it in and we'll put it in a nice protective holder, service at the best."
You know what you guy's realy should be ashamed of yourselfs, this honest hard working seller has gone to all this trouble to provide us with free entertainment and all you do is shoot him down Shame on you all I say
Maybe I missed it but not sure if it was stated that the BU ment what some may think it means. It could stand for Borderline Ugly, Better U have it than me, Best Used, etc. If may say BU but there are so many things that have a B and a U in them.
