Yeah. Different worlds. You actually get to make a real difference, and use your brains for something useful, which is more than I can say about my field. A small favor. Can you call me Sallent or something else like "Cuban", etc? I use my coin hobby to relax. The last thing I really want to think about when talking coins is my work. Don't get me wrong, I like my work, but this is my private time away from the daily grind. You calling me lawyer just makes me think of all the work I have to do tomorrow, or the hearing at the end of the week, etc., and we end up talking about my work.

 

I highly recommend the Rotring 600. I use mine quite often. It is a great pencil.

 

I think this is very cool, Sallent. I loved fountain pens as a kid and haven't written with one for years but you are giving me inspiration. I frankly write so little these days (all computer) that I hardly can anymore. Seems like all I do is sign my name to checks. Hell, I can hardly spell thanks to spell check which has made my brain mush!

 

Not a bad idea...so long as I don't lose it!!! And I need a big eraser...I make a lot of mistakes. You wouldn't believe how often they change what you're supposed to write in aircraft forms!

 

ahaha, no problem ... ironically, I call you lawyer because when you first started collecting ancient coins (a year or so ago) you used to tell us that you were a lawyer in every one of your original posts

I'm very old-fashioned when it comes to pens. I have a couple of reed pens I hand cut and use to write on papyrus as a demonstration for my Intro to Biblical Greek students. I think in a previous life I was a scribe!

very nice work! Are you also interested in illuminated manuscripts? I will never forget seeing the Book of Kells in the library of Trinity Dublin. I also saw the Book of Durrow there.

 

Yes, I love illuminated manuscripts and Greek and Latin paleography in general.

 

I'm about 50 coins in, and still roughly another 50+ coins left to transfer to paper envelopes. It's a bit of a long process as the info is written by hand on each envelope, but slowly I'm getting there.

 

I use pens like sharpie industrial ink. I work on airplanes & when we mark stuff meant to stay even after cleaning with some pretty powerful solvent that'll take paint off a car

 

I work in aircraft fuel tanks!
