Not sure why

    IMG_5567.JPG IMG_5566.JPG I am new to this and maybe someone can explain what has happened to cause this to happen to this 2002 (I can make out an 02) penny? Almost the entire front is smooth and it is not as thick as a regular penny

    The lines indicate that someone used a grinding device to remove the copper layer and expose the zinc core. It is post-mint-damage (PMD). Welcome!

    Looks like the early work in the body shop that had my '83 Firebird after I got rear-ended while stopped at a red light by a guy who never even touched the brake.

    Yeah, the impact, plus my then-170 lbs., sheared off all the teeth on the seat reclining device, and I was laid flat looking up at the dome light. Did you know '83 'Birds can basically fold in half?
