Are you referring to Lincoln's head. Interior die break.

 

The loop on the G is extra long, perfect place for a break...

 

Most likely a plating blister/bubble.

 

Looks like it took a hit to me.

I see what you mean. That wouldn't be considered a die crack.
More of a small die break so you're right. A small chip that formed in the area in question.

What happens is when the die becomes worn some parts in the incused area of the die break away leaving a void. When it strikes the blank the metal from the planchet flows into the void and appears raised on the coin.
