Error coin or mint damage

I have a 1973 proof set that I've had since I was young collector. I put it aside because the penny exhibits some sort of damage. There appears to have been either some foreign object that gouged the coin or possibly the die itself had some sort of damage. The mark on the coin is imprinted (not raised) so a damaged die doesn't seem as likely. The mark itself is roughly in the shape of a 'R' or a '2', but that's probably just a coincidence. Any thoughts on this coin would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Your coin looks like it was Struck Through lint or a piece of string, most likely from a rag used at the pressing station. I have seen other proof coins with this type of abnormality. In my opinion it has no premium value to most collectors, but it may to some.

Looks like a one string strike through. It may bring a small premium to a collector of those things. I collect errors but I wouldn’t be interested in this.
