Love all the posts guys!! What a terrific variety of Arethusa/Tanit/Herakles and horse examples---not to mention metals including 'electrum'!!! Naturally, you guys now have me thinking adding an 'electrum'----with Hannibal's portrait??? Thanks so much for sharing all those wonderful coins!!!
It's definitely leading the 'pack' at the moment....and I LOVE your Tet with Arethusa!! I noticed that so many of these Sicilian types from 300 BC have a very ragged/chipped edge.---Any idea why??? I also have a pricey 'Republican' on bid that I hope to win. It would be running neck to neck with my tet for my favorite of 2017....and the last at that price level for the rest of the year LOL
it's interesting to see the influence one civilization had on another in these coins. i've read that few, if any civilization develops in a vacuum.
Great thread ... here are a couple of my Carthage examples (the 2nd cool example is a dear Secret Santa gift from Gandalf) Carthage Horse-head, AE20 300-264 BC Bruttium, Carthage Occupation, AR 1/2 Shekel 216-211 BC This place rocks!!
very nice lookin' coin MZ! looks like it's thick and in high relief as well, bet it will be great in hand!
