Just did a little local show. Lots of folks I never seen before. Looked like a good turnout and saw a decent showing of young folks.

This was the star of the show. Never saw Continental Currency outside of a big auction.

I don’t collect Morgans but I do collect well struck coins. This one grabbed my fancy so it is going home with me.

And then don’t tell him but I picked this up for @lordmarcovan. I know zero about foreign stuff but he seems to have an eye for fanciful designed foreign coins and I thought this one was rather sexy….. Ssshhhhh!!

Anyway, great way to spend a Friday afternoon.

Besides the "whale" of a coin, the Continental Currency coin. The 10 Francs is very interesting.

    Oops, I'll pretend I didn't see this. LOL ;)

Actually, I clicked in here from the sidebar menu, without even noticing you'd tagged me.

Thanks! Nice big silver from my birthyear! :)

That's the "Hercules" type. The design goes back to the early 19th century. It was used on 5-franc coins in the 1800s, but this is a 10-franc coin under the 1960-2001 New Franc.

Smalll shows can be good, but sometimes I get there and there is nothing but Morgan Dollars and modern silver to buy. I have become a bit of a "gold bug" of late although all I have been buying recently are quarter eagles for a little date set from 1900 to 1907 and some fractional currency. Oddly enough, there was very little of that at the recent Lakeland, Florida coin show. There were things for me to buy at a Sarasota, Florida club show a few weeks before that.

Sorry, but I find Morgan Dollars and ASEs boring.

Yeah, I too find Morgans boring. They were a pretty big deal to me as a young collector. I have hundreds of them now and never pull them out to look at them. But I do have a thing for well struck pieces and that one rather spoke to me.
