so, do we put the . . . 2026 Emerging Liberty Dime in our Roosevelt albums? 2026 Enduring Liberty Half Dollar in our Kennedy album? 2026 Mayflower Compact Quarter in our Washington album? 2026 Declaration of Independence Quarter in our Washington album? 2026 U.S. Constitution Quarter in our Washington album? 2026 Gettysburg Address Quarter in our Washington album? and a tricky one . . . 2026 Revolutionary War Quarter in our Washington album? IT DOES HAVE GEORGE ON IT!
Put them in the folders or albums you mentioned. I wouldn’t waste my money on new albums just to have the name on the outside cover match.
I wonder what Dansco has in mind? I asked the question on their website but haven’t received an answer. They aren’t good about answering questions on their website—I know they are a small business and busy.
I have blank quarter albums so they will just go in order after I get Althea Gibson. Haven't seen 1 2026 coin and they came out in January.
I will be holding off on these until the 2027 coins come out - I believe they have said they are going to go back to the previous designs, but you never know. If they do go back to the previous designs, maybe Dansco could put out a one-year album to hold all denominations, types & mints for the 2026 unique designs?
They sell the blank ones Whittman classics at Hobby lobby. I tend to throw them in Misc albums. My collection is more by condition then dates.
I believe the nickel is going back to the original design. The dime too. There is a new series for quarters (I believe youth sports) and the half will be different (I think they are changing Kennedy’s orientation and the reverse). I’d like Dansco to put out a one year only album for the 26 coins. I hope they are working on it now and it’ll be out soon!!! But I’m not going to hold my breath, lol.
I'd put the 2026 designs in the corresponding denomination album alongside 2024, 2025...2027, 2028 etc. New dedicated albums/folders JUST for these 2026 coins might work best for casual or newbie collectors.
I cut off 'moderns' at 1965. If it's newer than me, I'm not that interested in it. (I will say the new dime design is nice, though.)
I’m doing that too. But where to put the quarters? I have Dansco albums and they have an album just for the different quarter series. Ideas?
This is the "executive decision" I made for 2026 coins: I'm still putting 2026 dimes in my Roosevelt dimes album, even though they're not Roosevelt dimes. I'm still putting 2026 half dollars in my Kennedy half dollars album, even though they're not Kennedy half dollars. No exception needs to be made for Jefferson nickels; they're still Jefferson nickels. I am getting 2 of this year's uncirculated set; one to keep intact, one to break open to put this year's business strike Lincoln cents in my Lincoln cents album (and a spare set of everything else for other albums.) So about the quarters... I am planning on getting the Whitman classic album for 250th anniversary coins, so I will put the quarters from the uncirculated set I'm breaking open in there. (I'll also have spare nickels, dimes, and half dollars to put in there too. It doesn't have a spot for pennies.) Dollars, hmm... well I'll have the Native American dollars from the one uncirculated set I'm breaking open; I'll just put them in my misc. US coin binder I suppose. I wasn't planning on getting all of the Innovation dollars this year but do plan on getting a roll of the California dollars featuring Steve Jobs. I'll probably just keep that roll intact; maybe put one in my US coins binder. P.S. What I know about 2027: It's not determined whether 2027 pennies will even exist. If they do, they'll probably only be in uncirculated and proof sets. The design will be back to the way it's otherwise been since 2010 (if they make them at all). Nickels will go back to the way they've otherwise been since 2006. Dimes will just go back to the way they've otherwise been since 1946. Quarters will get a new depiction of George Washington on the obverse, and 5 different designs each year until 2030 depicting youth sports on the reverse. Half dollars will get a new depiction of John F. Kennedy on the obverse, and will have a depiction of something to do with disabled sports on the reverse until 2030. 2027 Native American dollar will depict Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte, the first Native American in the US to earn a medical degree. (2028 Native American dollar will depict surfing. I guess it was decided in 2025 that Hawaiians count as "Native Americans" for the purpose of the Native American dollar program; kind of a stretch but arguably they are native to land that became the USA so I guess that's how they justify it, even if they're Pacific Islanders and not "Native American" by the usual definition of the term.) No idea what will be depicted on the 2027 Innovation dollars yet but they'll be released for Oregon, Kansas, West Virginia, and Nevada.
Whitman is planning on releasing albums and folders for the 250th anniversary stuff (nickels, dimes, quarters, and half dollars) if you need an album to place the quarters in. I think the release date is March 30. Littleton Coin Company is doing a folder too. I've not seen any definitive plans for Dansco to do so, yet, but maybe. Kind of doubt they'd sit it out entirely.
