1839 large cent

    I see there are a few different head "types" for 1839. What is this one? Can you even distinguish because of the condition? Thanks!

    This is a matron head, but I assume that you are looking for the Newcomb variety number. If so, I'll need to check my references when I get home.

    Looks to be the head of 1838. As far as the newcomb variety I cant tell for sure
