Gee, Mike...Thanks. I'm glad that I didn't imagine that (I was going to blame it on the 80's). I once had a stack of COINage magazines and several Coin World from 1973-75. Wish I still had them.

My favorite old coin world comes from the days when it was still a newspaper.

It showed the winning designs (all 3) for the bicentennial quarter.

Interesting to see the line drawings of the Bicentennial Dollar, Half, and Quarter all as they were originally presented, with the denomination "Quarter Dollar".

There aren't any. The one that exists was produced outside the mint.

I actually found a 1943 Copper Cent! Just last weekend. After years and years of hearing about people searching for them in bags from the bank, and hearing about fakes, etc. Guess it was just my turn. Very sweet coin too, XF.

John, before you get excited, put a magnet to your coin. If it sticks, it is likely copper plated.

The odds of finding a genuine copper 1943 cent are not zero, but they are very close to zero.

Most copper 1943's are altered 1948's.
Or steel 1943's that have been bronzed.
It is highly unlikely. Good luck.
    Let's see some photos.

Not altered 48 and not magnetic. Here is a picture of it. I found it at a coin show. It was too expensive for me to buy at this time (around $250K I think) so I just took the picture and was happy to have seen it. But I did find it, only it was in a locked case....

Since there are only 10-15 known to exist it is really quite something just to see a real one.

The Westford Show moved to Devens, MA in January, 2017. Same show new location. Apparently the hall they were using wanted to raise the rent to something crazy. The Devens show is located in the SPRINGHILL SUITES by MARRIOTT and is nicer although a bit smaller space.

Westford was closer for you. Devens will be about 25-30minutes for you.
