Going through some of my Jeffersons this morning and noticed this cool interior die break on the reverse of this 1940 -S . The coin in question looks a lot like the FS-501 rpm . The question I have is how likely could this not be the FS-501?
The die markers aren't there. You don't have to have all the markers present. Why didn't you show the MM and evidence of a second S. The crack in the hair and bust aren't there nor the die crack from Monticello to rim. I also don't see the Crack from the dome to U. Neat IDB, but I am afraid that is it.
Apologies, It's been a bit of time since I had looked at all the markers . I actually thought I could see part of a lower second mint mark but couldn't get that to show in the photographs... Thanks. I may need to freshen up my memory first before hand also. lol
