Hi, Here are some pics of what is probably my best Morgan - a 1902-O. Not rare, but the condition, at least to me, seems to be pretty good. I certainly get the cartwheeling effect with this coin. I don't know how to tell if this qualifies as DMPL or not. As Rain Man would say "she's very sparkly," but is there some type of process I can engage to determine if it would qualify as DMPL? Thanks!!
Nice morgan not sure that it has Pl or DMPL surfaces. It is difficult enough to tell MS to PL from photos. You would have to get much clearer photos to tell. This is an 80S known for great strikes and beautiful coins in MS. This one is raw, but it shows the contrast between devices and field, needed to get even a PL designation. This one is borderline and most likely wouldn't get the PL designation because the fields don't have enough mirror to them.
very hard to tell pl/dmpl from pictures. I will say the coin looks as if it could be reflective enough, but lack of cameo appearance (not required) doesn't help.. I have all of 1 DMPL morgans.... it reflects like a mirror in truth even though the cameo effect is light compared to many of my PL coins
I'll add in this coin IS DPL but got only a PL grade.. the Green color you see is reflection from my shirt several feet away but 80-Ss are almost always undergraded for some reason
