Here’s a Chinese 800 Spade from the Xin Dynasty, 7 to 23 AD. Its face value is 800 Spade which was never issued, therefore it’s counterfeit. Who would have thought that Chinese Money would be counterfeited? Makes me laugh. How about you?
Turns out that this is a very common counterfeit piece.

I say very cool. Sort of looks like "Gumby" a little. Just one eye of course.

A number of old Chinese coins look like Gumby. :)

If 800 spade was never issued, would this be a counterfeit or a fantasy issue? Totally ignorant here, so just wondering. I don't know how a person can be sure any of these Chinese cast pieces are actually ancient unless he or she was present when they were dug out of the ground. Even more modern struck coins are so often duplicated well enough to fool experts. Not that anybody in China would dare to counterfeit anything.
