Stephen Colbert had a segment on the demise of the penny and elongated cents tonight, culminating in the dramatic reveal of a custom Late Show penny press made by The Penny Press Machine Company in Little Canada, MN. (https://www.tppmc.com/home)

It makes 4 options, including one of a penny pressed into a penny.

He said it will be in the lobby at the theater for anyone to make them, until his show ends in May. I thought @lordmarcovan would get a kick out of this. Perhaps their YouTube channel will post a video of it at some point; I couldn't find it yet tonight.

Limited time, travel required to produce one - sounds like a desirable collectible to me!

tecnews.org is the website for elongated penny collectors. Cindy Calhoun is the current president, I believe it's the second time she has been president.

I especially like the ladies' penny costumes. Everyone got one last night, theater capacity is 370. I wonder how soon one shows up on ebay.

Wish I could find one, I wonder if a silver dime would work? Here's Reba McEntire pressing some, these machines are hard to find, post info if you know where a penny smasher machine is located in California! :D
