Will the US Mint ever stop selling the 2006 sets? Do you think it is right of the mint to continue to sell these? I think it's bogus.
i think it's great. it gives me a chance to wait to make my purchase. as a result, i've been able to spend my money on the 2007 buffalo and 2007 first spouse coins. i now plan to go back and buy the 2006 silver proof and unc sets in time for christmas gifts. i don't care they're dated 2006.
Why ? People complain if the mint sets a low mintage for an item (like the First Spouse coins) and they sell out before everybody can get one. Then people complain if the mint keeps selling something like the '06 Proof sets. Seems to me like whichever way the mint goes - people complain. How do ya win ?
There's a big difference between selling coins for the year they are issued and selling them beyond thier year of issue. Following the mints new business practices and their logic, I think they should mint some more 1913 nickels and '33 Saints.
schedule problem i think the mint should sell clad proof set, silver proof set and mint uncirculated sets starting on february or march. and end the selling on december 31. that will make sense.
This logic is flawed. The mint is not making the 2006 mint sets in 2007. They are selling stock left over that was minted in 2006. Your point about minting more coins from previous years does not support your argument at all.
It is an easy fix.....Place a 2 to 4 month window for all Mint releases, take orders during that time. Somewhere in that time, start minting that particular release, and only Mint to order. That way whoever wants one can order one, there is a set time frame, and the colelctor is who sets the rarity.
