Never heard of nancs before but I couldn't agree more with the following statement on their website: "US Proof coins from 1990 to Now - Most will grade PF 69 Deep Mirror Cameo some will grade lower and a few will grade PF 70. Save your money and keep your proof set in the mint sealed package and store them in a safe dry place. "
I am sorry i did not mean to offend you. and about the off brand holder company i know all about them cause i am putting a set togeather of sgs hallmark exc. coins that i pick up at the shop at cost its kinda fun to see how bad they actually are! and Again i am very sorry i did not mean to offend you and i hope you will accept my appology. about that set of 2 cent pieces that is awsome i would get them slabbed it would be worth it i dont know if you are a member yet but it cost $200 and with that you get 8 free submisions, so anyways good luck with your set Casey
No sweat Casey, I get over things pretty quickly. Yes, I will get the coins slabbed eventually. Mainly because if something happens to me I want my wife to have an easier time selling my stuff. Morbid but true. As for your set it sounds REAL interesting AND educational. I think the silliest slab I've seen in person was an ACG Franklin that had 3/4 FBL listed on the holder. Gee, you think there any other 3/4 FBLs out there? That coin was a hit at the show. Don't think it sold but did generate a lot of laughs. Keep us posted on your "off brand" set if you don't mind. clembo
Actually it was pretty much the standard back in the days of the photocertificate before PCGS started just using a single composite grade. In fact around the time PCGS began and went to a single grade, the photocertificate people were expanding the number of opinions available to the coin owner/buyer. Since they had multiple people grading they began putting each graders opinion on the certificate. The best known examples of this can be found on the eighth generation of ANACS certificate that shows the consensus obv/rev grades and the opinion of the grade, both obv and rev, of each of the four graders that saw the coin. Plus an opinion of the strike quality, the luster, surfaces, and the overall eye-appeal of the coin. Here is an example:
clembo - was that a quote from the response? Because according to this he bought the coins from them - he did not have his coins graded. So do they whole sale to people also? Or is this a typo. I did not see anything on their web page. I think I should start a slabbing company. I could just keep coming here and getting your alls opinion and do better than most other slabbers.
Yes it is and yes I did notice that myself. As I said I had no problem with the seller's response but who knows maybe she (and I think it's a she not a he) could be linked to the company but that's really stretching it. The site is actually pretty well laid out but I think we have to really do some digging here. clembo P.S. Don't start your own slabbing company. You'd probably just lose all respect here. LOL
Yeah - but I think I would have a pretty good bunch of graders available to me. And if I did one coin a week you all might not even notice it or complain about. BUT man I would have the worst turn around times.
haha thats funny 3/4 bell lines, great company there, today i bought a coin for my off brand set, it is a MS-67 morgan that i gave $20 for i would grade it a 60 and an ugly one at that, it is graded by GEC which is another backyard grading companies. its a fun kinda coin set to put togeather cause im basically buying raw coins in a fancy case, since i work for a coin dealer it is easy to come across these for fairley cheap.
