Rim of the Polk presidential dollar. The arrow points to what looks like a "B" imprint. If not a "B", should there be anything like what's showing between the U and M?...

I have never collected the Prez dollars. The edge lettering is recessed. Correct? Your image of the suspected "B" looks like it might be raised slightly. Right or wrong?

There are some errors with the edge lettering on some of the Prez dollars.
IDK if Polk is one of them. There is a list. Try google.

Thanks for posting I full image, there are edge lettering errors in most coins that have lettering on the edges. But half dollars there's a huge list on many dates.
You have to Google the information on this series. And see what dates are known for such.
Judging from your images I can't make a call if it's an true error or pmd.
There's a 50/50 chance it could go either way . Check it out as you may have a keeper there.

Contact with the edge of another coin impressed the B from its edge onto this coin. Not an error.
