Evening CTers, I finally got around to displaying my CSA denomination set from 1864. It's sitting in my office with a daily reminder that I am currently still missing one note. I plan to add description of each note below and make a title for above the half dollar but that will take some time to put together. For now at least I can enjoy them all together in the open vs being tucked away. Feel free to give me yor opinion or what you think would be a good addition to its current state. Enjoy!
It's a nice set, but I have to ask........"How well do you trust the cleaning service in your office?" Also, do you have windows in your office? Wouldn't the sunlight cause them to fade? Chris
Chris, Excellent comments, It's the office in my home which is secured well. We also have black out solar screens on our home which eliminates a large amount of the light that would come in. In addition to blinds I know they should be fine. I was more worried about the 50 cent note being crooked
Nice set!!! I noticed the empty spot... what denomination is going there? Did you consider putting a $3 bill in there? I know that the CSA had $3 notes
It can be confusing because it is not centered and square in the plastic sleeve. From right-to-left, it is too far left. Chris
Very cool. I'm in the process of doing a denomination set from the Bank of the Republic of Rhode Island.
The bottom empty spot is for the $500 note. The series is the last round of printed notes of the CSA to my knowledge. The notes consist of T-72 to T-64. Great resource below to the other series of CSA starting with 1861 ending with 1864. http://oldcurrencyvalues.com/confederate_money/
Got the frame for $15. I was going to have it done professionally but this will do for now and I like that it was entirely assembled by myself. It's a great feeling looking at it.
Certainly looks way better then a bare wall Maybe you started a trend by showing your great display. I have an Uncle in Germany who has Notegeld displays on his hobby room walls in basement. No windows/ hence no sunlight damage, always thought it looked cool. I have a "Stonewall Jackson" $500 in CH-64, keep that in my album
I would LOVE to have one just like that in my office here at home.....only if I knew more about confederate bills. I love the way they look, I have a few high grades that I picked up along the way. Very, very good looking framed set there, jealous here.
Nice looking set! I have that same series, including the $500, but I still need the three smallest denominations. Mine will remain in their album, though.
Yeah, framed notes an irresistible honeypot... I have SO many notes I haven't posted, my unscanned stack is now three inches high, and after a few months of no acquisitions, I ended up getting a few notes, some nationals, I've started picking up rarer banks as I can or just interesting bank/towns. Like the Tootle-Lacy National Bank of Saint Joseph - alot of character in that name. Or the McDowell National Bank of Sharon... or from Mount Jewett, or the Mauch Chunk National Bank from... where else, Mauch Chunk, only now it is known as Jim Thorpe, in a weird bit of naming chicanery... And to keep it topical, I even managed to pick up a really nice Type 8 CSA note, and a tough to get Type 32...
