    It's from 1973, United Arab Emirates 1 dirham. Mintage of 13 million and minimal collector value. It has the date both in the Western and Muslim calendar, using Arabic script.

    Hiddendragon is fine for a credit. Maybe you got a private explanation, but you asked about the Islamic calendar. While the Western calendar is based on the year Christ was born, the Islamic calendar is based on the year Mohammad established his religion, so it's 600 years or so different than the one we use. It also is based on the moon phases and has fewer days in a year. Many Muslim coins either give both years or just give the Islamic year. Israel also has its own calendar, as do several Asian nations.
