I'll start with saying I'm putting together a morgan $ album , I recently purchased this 1897 -S for just over $110 , looks to have average luster with a couple check hits. This dollar was advertised as bu.. I adjusted my bid accordingly due to the polish or " slider" look on the check . Hopefully my photos will suffice. 20260304_115634.jpg 20260304_115029.jpg 20260304_115557.jpg 20260304_115424.jpg

Looks like you did just fine with your purchase, especially since silver prices are up the past 3 months. She looks good to me, but I am no grading expert. You never know until you send it in for grading. For an album, it's a fine example.

I think that you did super good with this coin! It does go way up if it's in Mint State. 1897 S Morgan Silver Dollar Coin Value Prices, Photos & Info

You did real good. 1897-S is considered a common date as over 5 million were minted. A number of Morgan’s will cost four figures or more in high grades.

I am looking at the luster on the coin, as long as there isn't obvious signs of circulation, it looks better than a 63.

I don't believe it to have circulated for all I can tell .

It looks like a ms 64 but if you where to send it in to a grading service like PCGS they might be less generous and give it a ms 62 or 61

Luster matters big time and the photos don't show it. You may be right. What drives me insane are heavily toned coins that have zero luster, and still get technically high grades. That is another reason I steer away from ugly toning. I got off topic here because this coin isn't toned. Carry on.:p
