If you could bring back into circulation any US coin design, what would it be? Would you change the denomination? I would design a half dollar with the obverse of a Trade dollar and the obverse of the Saint-Gaudens gold $20, placing an eagle in the hand on the obverse Something like this: I am afraid it would wear terribly though.
Although an oddity. I would recommend the large denomination Philippine coins from the turn of the century (1900), that were made by the US. I have no photos, but here's an NGC link. https://www.ngccoin.com/coin-explor...s.-sovereignty/55384/1910-s-usa-phil-peso-ms/
I would say the Walking Liberty Half both obverse and reverse. Outstanding design in my opinion. Bruce
So many to choose from really. But about any classic design would be better than many of the poorly executed modern designs. I can't just pick one. It's like eating just one potato chip.
The buffalo nickel is also one of my favorite designs. Before deciding to collect wheat cents by date with my son, the buffalo nickel was the only coin I liked enough to put together a whole set. I only have a few dates left to go.
The quarter and half eagle Indian head, on the quarter and encuse as Bella Lyon Pratt's original. No more "commemoratives"!
Thinking outside the box a little, and looking at a totally unique design, I asked AI to produce this. Benjamin Franklin famously preferred a Turkey to a Bald Eagle but was overruled. Not many of us ever encounter a bald eagle but we all encounter Turkeys. Defiant Turkey reverse. I would buy this.
