It's "Morgan Mania Monday!". Post those Morgan Dollars.....

Probably already did this one but here we are again. The Morgan dollar in my opinion is one of the most popular US coins out there.

The pride of my tiny Morgan collection....an 1879-S MS67 CAC.

 

I only have a couple but no pics, that said here's one I used to own but sold it when I needed some moola. There's a word from years ago!

 

The one disadvantage with Morgans (and other silver coins) vs. gold coins (like Saints): the chance of a coin turning in a holder isn't totally eliminated by many decades. Gold is much less reactive than silver so it's unlikely a Saint would develop copper spots or some other discoloration.

But silver is tempermental, doing nothing for decades and then suddenly toning or blotching or whatever.

 

I’ve posted a few varieties but this is nothing compared to all the Morgan’s that I have.

I wish I was able to post here...just recently I bought not one but two beautiful Morgan dollars. The one was stolen in transit, all I got was an empty, slit open package...the other was last heard from on Feb. 18th and no tracking updates since then. I'm waiting on USPS to process an insurance claim on the first, and a missing package inquiry on the second. Sure hope things work out!

 

This is a new one for me. I don't really collect Morgan's but have always wanted one in a GSA holder.
