Post Mint Damage? I haven't been doing this long enough to be sure of myself yet.

    No! No! No! No! No!

You're not going to get away that easy! I want you to tell us what things you see that aren't supposed to be there, and how they could have gotten on a die to make them look like a coin struck at the Mint.

Thanks for pushing me. I guess you never learn if you don't put out the details. It seems like the group thinks pmd so if you deal in errors let me know why what I describe below would be wrong. The N in island is an obvious pmd for me as well as the T in The and the line through the date. I saw a video on YouTube of many many slabbed struck through errors from PCSG and NGC and the glaring part in the middle got me thinking could this have been a screw from the press? The metal is pushed back on the sides. I see ridges like a screw. The first T in state is messed up as well.
The picture could be a little clearer as well. Sorry about that. I am not home to get a good picture.

Nice attitude Bambam, it will get you far in collecting. Chris can be a real pain, but he is a nice guy and knows his stuff. But, he is not the grumpiest :)Jim

All of the nicks and gouges you see on the coin are PMD! If the big gouge through the sail was a strikethrough, you would not see metal pushed up along the edge because the hammer die would keep that from happening.

FYI, the person who designed this coin is a member here..... @dcarr .

FWIW, @Bambam8778 , you're expected to make mistakes if you want to learn.

By the way, Jim is grumpier than I am!;););)

Mine is definitely shrinking. I can feel it moving around.

Egad...things degrade rapidly around here...thank goodness. Actually, the thing I noticed was the PMD at the date and had to look back for the central screw (central screutinizer?). One of the reasons for saying what it is that you want members to look at.

I'll look around. My daughter took me. Small theater and great presentation.
