I have added several coins this month and here are most of them-- I have a few examples of the hut coinage; but I am thinking about getting one from each mint. These are interesting because each mint has a different style of tree and these coins were likely issued to commemorate the A.D. 342 resettlement of the Frankish people within the Roman Empire, on the left bank of the Rhine River, mainly in Toxandria. RFT RIC VII Rome 325 This one has a dot in the doorway not mentioned in RIC, but there is a footnote for Heraclea 98 about a dot in the arch and another in a doorway. and what looks like a ribbon (?) behind the neck, maybe to tie the cloak Constantine II A.D. 327- 329 Ӕ nummus 18mm 2.8g CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C; Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. PROVIDEN-TIAE CAESS; campgate with two turrets and ✶ between them; • in left field; • in doorway. in ex. SMHB RIC VII Heraclea 96 This VRBS ROMA has a circular design like a wreath with 4 dots inside on the left shoulder. I don't recall ever seeing such a decoration before. VRBS ROMA A.D. 330- 331 Ӕ nummus 16x17mm 2.0g VRBS ROMA; Roma, helmeted, wearing imperial cloak. REV.; She-wolf left suckling twins (Romulus and Remus); above, two stars. In ex. SLG RIC VII Lyon 242 This coin is not in RIC, as it is part of the 1/96 reduction [RIC VII TRIER 39-60] versus the earlier types from the 1/72 per pound. The pearl ring diameter is smaller (19-20mm) versus the 22mm of the previous issue. Compare with the larger module RIC VI Trier 893.
