As i await my new drachm of Rhodes....just thought i'd post another facing head coin. This is my Larissa drachm. I bought this one last year. The strike isnt the best (horse is missing some of its head) but the amount of detail in this little coin is amazing! As soon as ny envelopes arrive, this one will be "freed". Hope you enjoy looking at her as much as i do! tmp_22681-20170305_225505-1878840699.jpg tmp_22681-20170305_2254261577284625.jpg

The metal looks excellent and the obverse centering is off in a way that does not hurt the coin. The reverse centering is all that keeps this from being a gem.

My thoughts exactly! I really love the detail on the coin though. The obverse is especially appealing, as there is only a touch of flatness on the nose and chin. I really like the depth of the portrait, and the horse (or what is left if him) really displays good musculature and details...right down to the hairs on the horses tail! Add to this a nice, rich cabinet tone to boot!

the nymph looks beautiful, looks like she barely has any ware on that nose!

I agree. The portrait is lovely and the lack of centering doesn't impact it. The reverse suffers from the lack of centering that occurs on so many of these. If this had a well centered horse it would be VERY expensive.

I like it a lot as it is. A gem.

Some very nice coins here! Sadly I have nothing to share.

The youth wrestling bull is really nice and I like how you can see the musculature of the wrestler.

Lovely coins - this caught my eye at a show 7 years ago - poor Larissa tends to end up with a boxer's nose from wear :D

Coins from Larissa is one of my favorite collecting themes (such great artistry on their coins!). Here's my latest Larissa acquisition, which I just finished photographing and cataloging. I know @stevex6 displayed one of these last year, I went green with envy, and I have been searching diligently for one ever since:D

Both are very nice coins. The scene on the obverse....its like an action theme that has come down through the ages...like you can actually picture this going down in realtime..all those ages ago! Very impressive
