The designer initials (three sets?) on both sides do appear rather prominent. Victor D. Brenner got his erased off the back of the Lincoln cent for less.

Agree I thought they were too prominent.

And it’s a decent likeness of Lady Liberty.

I liken her to more if a Marrian. What a sweet face!

What an incredible design. Unless you spend cash, you won't find one. I hope to find a few more, Might even ask the tellers if they have a few rolls, they will be hoarded.

You mean Marianne. Yes, there is a resemblance there, now that you mention it.

Won’t be the first time our coins (unintentionally or otherwise) resembled a French design.

I doubt it. Everybody's by now gotten used to such a wide variety of quarter designs (not to mention nickels and even cents), that I doubt most folks will even bother to look.

Speaking for myself, with my late-middle-aged eyesight, with a coin as small as a dime, a lot of the details are lost on me anyway, unless I take a loupe out of my pocket. I have trouble reading the date on a dime even with my specs on.

Because the designs in circulation now are so varied, I'll bet you could spend a foreign coin of the right color, diameter, and thickness as a US coin, without anyone paying much attention.

I just noticed the title of this thread says “Post your Sesquicentennial coins” (=1926), not “Post your Semiquincentennial coins” (=2026).

I just did that this morning, in a different thread. ;)

Sesquicentennial Coins? This is in low relief with the sitting president, Calvin Cooledge, on the obverse. He was still alive at the time, but some people, who didn't like him, would have disputed that. Paraphrasing, one of his critics said, "He's still alive? How can you tell?"

    Here's a 1924 presidential campaign button.

And the Sesquicentennial quarter eagle. This was the last commemorative gold piece until 1984 when the U.S. a $10 gold coin for the Olympics.
