1972 Error?

I know you hear this a lot but I'm new and learning. Yesterday I was lucky enough, with my first post, to get a few friendly tips/help.

I just got a new electronic microscope and put this 1972 under it and saw at the tail of the 2 is some sort of error. I'm too fast to call things doubled so can someone weigh in on this and tell me your opinion of what kind of error this is if any at all?

It's a DDO, wexler has a big list on his site and this ( date ) is one of them .
