Where'd he get all those oddly toned coin from? I think he's artificially treating them, maybe just before he sends them to be graded. I can't see how the drastic toning on these relatively recent coins happened if they weren't artificially done.
Does anyone know how it's done? Pink copper cents! Bright rainbow silver? I don't believe it's natural.

You know what i think he's doing is doctoring the pictures because if it is in a PCGS NGC ANACS or ICG holder it is not going to be artificually toned those are all repitable companies and will not holder artifical toned coins, plus if you saw on some of those toned cents they say red brown R/B on the holder and with the toning there is no brown on those? I think he is doctoring the pictures.

at first i thought it was silly to get very low grade coins graded,
until i read all the posts about pop reports. it might be fun to
build a type set of low grade, but nice type coins,less expensive to.

 

Actually i already have one it is fun i also have a holed set of just coins with holes in them i can get them at the store for practically nothing and they make a fun set to build the book costs more than most the coins in it. lol

 

Well, I would agree with you but I've heard from people who have seen some of his coins in person...so I think it is more than just the pictures.

He's a stand up member of both the PCGS and NGC boards. Where he gets all the toned coins and what (if anything) he does to them, I don't know.

 

well i think he is full of BS those dont look good to me and i am fixing to start full time with NGC next summer!

 

They were staying that they look just like the photos.

It's amazing that a 1964 Kennedy could have circulated enough to earn a grade of AG-3. That must be the worst 1964 Kennedy out there and therefor a rarity. I've never seen one that graded less than XF until now.

 

he's taking advantage of the fact that there are many many stupid people on fraudbay that must think 'because it's on the bay it is real and priceless'

Those toned coins are ridic. Is he baking them in the oven, or what? Regardless, PCGS and NGC don't seem to have a problem with them...

 

I agree with this but i also think that he is possably doing somthing with the pictures? or doing somthing to them that takes a couple of weeks before they turn color but i think this would leave some sort of residue on the coin? that ngc or pcgs would spot. and one last thing NGC and PCGS are very repitable and i know they would not grade somthing with fake coloring because i have sent coins to them that they have sent them back in a body bag cause of artifical color theyre the experts so i trust their "OPINION"

oh yeah from all of yall that are saying that that ag3 kennedy is the worst one you have ever seen and possably the worst, we have gotten 64s that have been so bad that all you could see to even tell that it was a kennedy was the faint outline of the head of the coin, and its not worth anything at least not to me! so that pos that he was selling was not worth anything!

 

His pics are fine. If he was juicing them do you think he'd have the feedback record he has?

 

i know what he is doing! he is not artifically toning coins but he is exposing them to sulfar which will tone coins but its not considered to be artifical it usually takes a few years to do this but the coins look fantastic after you take them out of their holders i am almost posative this is what he is doing.

 

Could be...but I had a friend who tried that and they got body bagged. Also the colors wern't this good on most of the coins. Only one kindof looked like it and it still had a looonnnggg way to go to being this good.

But, I know that some people collect very low grade coins.
I know a dealer who is putting together a set of AG Commems.
