First thing I noticed was the filled 9 then looking closer I thought there was a lamination issue on the forehead or a strike through but its actually a raised line like a die crack but what an odd place for a die crack right? Or maybe its something else so I had to post to get your thoughts.
It's still a Lamination Planchet error. Not a die crack at all. The die didn't create that issue. It is called a Lamination Crack
The thing that is confusing me is a lamination is where the planchet separates leaving a low spot on the coin and a die crack leaves a high spot on the coin. So how does a lamination leave a high spot? The line on my coin is raised thats why I thought its a die crack.
Oh I forgot all about this Lauer die crack, these are two different tokens with two different die cracks. These must have been minted sequentially, or at least close by as look at the L in General, also a die crack almost on both!
The Planchet was already cracked before it was struck. It's like a flap. Just forget about die cracks. It has absolutely nothing to do with the issue on your coin. Here is a huge Lamination from my collection
