Civil War Token Error

    On the reverse see it reads SHOOT HIM ON THE SPOOT. It should be SPOT.

    it is worth about $250 in that condition. there are only about 3000 of the spoot ones known to exist!

    Yes, read my post. SPOT is spelled SPOOT on the reverse.

    I know spot is spelled spoot. just wanted to know if it was just how they spelled it.

    I’m not sure but remember these tokens were privately issued in 1863 and used just like real money until the federal government out their used in 1964. Because of the Civil War money minted by the federal government was scarce in places. That’s why private mints filled in.

    Are nickels the best coin to coin roll hunt for? And how hard are boxes of pennies to get now that they ended production?

    It all depends on what you’re looking for when roll hunting. Banks are odd about cents. One bank I use sends all cents back to the feds. The same bank but a different branch limits you to $5.00 worth.
